Students will learn about key moments in Chinese history, such as the establishment of the Qin and Han dynasties, the rise of Maoism, the Tiananmen Square protests and the Cold War.

Day 1
Depart Australia ⤑ China
Day 2-4
Beijing
Step back in time at the Forbidden City and on a walking tour of the hutongs of Old Beijing. Tour the Summer Palace and take a walk along the Great Wall. See where the Tiananmen Square protests took place and visit the National Museum of China to view artefacts from across the ages.
Day 5-6
Xi’an
Visit the 2000 year old UNESCO World Heritage listed Terracotta Warrior army, a site still being excavated today. Learn about WWII history and the rise of the Communist Party at the Eighth Route Army Office Museum.
Day 8-9
Nanjing
Explore the shrine of Dr Sun Yat-Sen, considered the founding father of Nationalist China. Visit the Nanjing Memorial Hall that honours the victims of massacre that took place here during the Sino-Japanese War.
Day 10-11
Shanghai
Experience the bustle of modern day China with an architectural walk along the Bund. Visit the world-class Shanghai Museum and the small but fascinating Propaganda Poster Museum. View communist-era statues and memorials in Fuxing Park and Huangpu Park.
