14 Day Student Education Tour

This tour takes students on an exploration of the cultural, political, social and historical forces leading to conflict in Vietnam during the period 1954 to 1975 – from French colonisation, through the Indochina War, to US withdrawal from Vietnam.
Students come away with a greater understanding of the context and nature of the Indochina conflict, the reasons for the Communist victory in Vietnam, and the devastating impact of war on the Vietnamese people and environment.

Day 1
Depart Australia ⤑ Arrive in Hanoi
Day 2-4
Hanoi
Explore the city’s history and significance during the struggle for independence & reunification with the South. Take guided tours of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex, Military History Museum and infamous Hoa Lo Prison. Learn about the diverse ethnic communities of Vietnam. Cruise Halong Bay and tour the Old Quarter.
Day 5-9
Hue / Hoi An
Explore Hue’s Citadel and Imperial City, and its destruction during the Tet Offensive. Tour the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), scene of some of the bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War. Explore the Vinh Moc tunnels and relics of tunnel life. Take a walking tour of Hoi An historic port city.
Day 10-13
Ho Chi Minh City
Delve into colonialism and warfare at the War Remnants and Ho Chi Minh Museums. Hear the victims of military action tell their own stories. Tour the Australian battle site at Long Tan and explore the Cu Chi Tunnels. Cruise the Mekong Delta and experience the city’s eat streets and architectural landmarks.
