Amanda Paterson – Science

Amanda is a Science educator with three decades of experience in the government and independent school sectors - including as Head of Learning Area-Science at an independent girls’ high school, and A/Head of Science at an independent boys’ school.  

Bringing alive the science curriculum and developing students’ love of learning and discovery has been her passion.  It has been her goal to mentor and support science teachers to adopt classroom practices that nurture curiosity, encourage scientific thinking, and promote hands-on learning opportunities - enabling students to explore the natural world and cutting-edge scientific innovation.  


Marilyn Pretorius Travel tour guide English

Marilyn Pretorius – English

Marilyn has been teaching English at a senior level for many years. She retains her passion through her love of literature and the lessons writers from all over the world convey about love and life. 

She is a dedicated educator and very interested in teaching gifted students and to this end participated in a research project which resulted in a publication in 1999 titled: Gifted students in secondary schools: differentiating the curriculum / Miraca U.M. Gross, Bronwyn Sleap, Marilyn Pretorius.


Dr Samantha Frappell – Modern History

Samantha Frappell is a senior Modern History teacher with a PhD in History from the University of Sydney. She has written a range of history texts for primary and secondary students, including Civil Rights in the USA (Small Caps, 2022). 

Her interests include American, Japanese, film, Medieval and Australian history.


Dr Jennifer Lawless – Ancient History

Jennifer is highly regarded in History education in NSW. After her time in the classroom, she spent 13 years as the History Inspector for the NSW Board of Studies. Jennifer gained her PhD from the University of New England on the experiences of the Australians captured as POWs during the Gallipoli campaign. She has lectured in History teaching method at Sydney, Macquarie, and Western Sydney Universities. Jennifer has authored/co-authored over a dozen books on History.

Jennifer has been involved in the development of several overseas study tours designed specifically for teacher PL. She has travelled with groups across Greece, Turkey and Egypt, providing classroom context and facilitating collegial discussions on tour.
