Classics and Ancient History Study Tour Program - January 2026 

“Libertas was one company we approached (based on word-of-mouth) and responded with a very detailed and professional quote at a competitive cost.

All aspects of the tour from planning to room bookings, coach hire, entry tickets etc. went really smoothly. Natalie was fantastic in the planning stages and at the pre-departure briefing. 

Libertas staff always accommodated our requests even if that meant slightly tricky bookings for some sites in Rome. 

On tour I was impressed that we didn't have a single case of a late bus or a missing ticket or anything like that (which would be easy to do given the length and complexity of the tour). 

Our tour manager Elton Gllava was brilliant - he ensured everything went smoothly and was able to refine bus pick-up times etc. to suit weather conditions and requests for slightly more/less time at particular sites. He also provided invaluable assistance with a couple of mishaps (esp. a stolen passport) that would have been very tricky for UQ staff to sort out. The students very much enjoyed his company and local knowledge.

I was also really impressed with our guide at Pompeii and Herculaneum. She was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging and was able to provide almost up-to-the-minute information about current excavations at Pompeii that I and the students found very enlightening.”
