Service Learning

An adventure providing students with insights into Indigenous culture and the Top End’s wet-dry tropical ecosystems – riverine, marine, monsoon rainforests,  wetlands and rocky escarpments - combining outdoor sports and community service participation with opportunities to conduct environmental field studies and gain new skills in a safe, stimulating environment.

Explore the Rich History and Natural Environment of Australia’s Top End

Tour Highlights

  • Get immersed in Darwin’s culture, military and social history. Engage with the Territory’s diverse visual art traditions. Cruise the waters of Darwin Harbour and explore its marine ecosystems.


  • Learn about the rich rock art, archaeological sites and natural habitats of World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park. Spot some crocs at Cahills Crossing.

  • Meet Traditional Custodians, taste bush tucker, and understand how Indigenous people have used the lands of the Top End for food and medicine for over 40,000 years.


  • Explore the geological formations of Nitmiluk Gorge by canoe and guided walk and participate in an Indigenous cultural workshop. Experience life on a working cattle station.

  • Settle in at an Environmental Education Centre for exciting team and individual activities – from water sports to rock climbing, orienteering to ropes. Study Litchfield Park’s incredible Magnetic Termite Mounds and develop bush and survival skills with a wilderness education workshop.

  • Participate in community service activities in line with the school ethos and priorities.
