This immersive journey through China takes students from the ancient wonders to modern technological frontiers. The tour explores how aerospace, robotics, engineering, urban design and sustainability shape one of the world’s fastest-advancing nations.

Across each destination, students engage with real-world applications of physics, robotics, and environmental science — gaining a deeper understanding of how technology and creativity drive human progress.

Day 1

Depart Australia ⤑ Arrive in Shanghai 

Beijing

  • China Aerospace Museum – Self-guided exploration of authentic rockets and spacecraft. Analyse propulsion and aerodynamic design and engineering milestones in China’s space program.

  • Tiananmen Square – Study the geopolitical and symbolic heart of modern China.

  • Forbidden City – Guided tour exploring imperial architecture, urban planning and dynastic engineering principles.

  • Evening –Dinner at Haidilao Smart Restaurant, observing robotic service and automation in hospitality.

Day 2

Beijing

  • Mutianyu Great Wall –Guided tour: ascend by chairlift and descend by toboggan, investigate load-bearing design, military engineering and ancient construction methods.

  • China Science and Technology Museum – Hands-on experiments across robotics, space, biology, and environmental science; includes access to the Giant Screen & 4D Theater.

Day 3

Beijing to Hangzhou

  • High-speed train to Hangzhou

  • West Lake - Guided Walk and discussion at an UNESCO World Heritage site focusing on ecosystem management, water conservation, and sustainable urban design.

Day 4

Hangzhou

  • Alibaba Creative Ecological Park - Guided tour of China’s digital innovation hub. Explore entrepreneurship, sustainable corporate design, and the evolution of the e-commerce ecosystem.

  • Meijiawu Tea Village - Cultural immersion and field study on agricultural science and sustainability. Investigate Longjing tea cultivation and the chemistry of flavour and soil.

Day 5

Hangzhou to Shanghai

  • Wensan Future Technology Center – Immersive showcase of AI, robotics, smart-city and creative tech innovations featuring companies such as Alibaba, Unitree Robotics, Deepseek, and BrainCo 

  • Wen’er Smart Market – Observe digital payment systems, smart scales, and data-driven commerce in action. 

  • High-speed train to Shanghai

  • The Bund – Guided walk along Shanghai’s historic waterfront to analyse heritage preservation and modern architecture.

  • Pujiang River Cruise – observe the illuminated skyline and urban design transformation along the Huangpu River.

Day 6

Shanghai

  • Shanghai Tower & the Shanghai Eye - Ascend China’s tallest building (632 m) to evaluate vertical-city design and seismic engineering solutions. Study the 1,000-tonne tuned mass damper that stabilises the structure during winds and earthquakes, a live lesson in resonance and vibration control. 

  • Shanghai Science and Technology Museum - Hands-on exploration; participate in interactive exhibits on physics, robotics, biology, and environmental science in one of Asia’s premier science education centres.

  • Underground Tech Mall - Explore smart devices and robotics products, assessing design and innovation value through collaborative decision-making.

Day 7

Shanghai

  • Shanghai Volkswagen Factory – Guided tour to one of China’s leading automotive production hubs. Observe robotic assembly lines, automation systems and precision engineering in modern vehicle manufacturing. Learn how sustainability and EV design are integrated into mass production. 

    MagLev Train – Travel at up to 430 km/h on the world’s only commercial magnetic-levitation railway. Analyse propulsion efficiency, frictionless design and energy use as you transfer to Pudong Airport.

  • Depart Shanghai for return flights to Australia.
