Day 1
Depart Australia ⤑ Arrive in Rome ⤑ Travel to Naples
Day 2-4
Naples
Port city at the centre of the ancient Mediterranean region – marvel at National Archaeological Museum collections. Then head south to explore the ancient remains of Pompeii and Herculaneum, destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD.
Day 5-7
Rome
The eternal city – tour the Roman Forum and majestic Colosseum in the footsteps of the gladiators. Explore the tombs and tunnels of the Appian Way catacombs. Go back to 28BC at the Mausoleum of Augustus and get immersed in the city’s cultural wonders – Palatine Hill, Pantheon, Ara Pacis Museum & the ancient port, Ostia Antica.
Day 8-10
Peloponnese
Tour ancient sites at Delphi Corinth and Epidaurus, and the ruins at Mycenae synonymous with Homer’s epic poetry. Engage with contemporary Greek culture and the links to its ancient past including the city state of Sparta.
Day 10-12
Athens
A guided tour through ancient Greek civilisation – architecture, philosophy and mythology - from the monumental magnificence of the Acropolis to the Parthenon National Archaeological Museum.
Day 13-14
Depart Athens⤑ Arrive in Australia
