The Power of Professional Development Tours

Professional development learning tour for Australian History teachers to Italy with Libertas Travel

History teachers do more than teach the past; they help shape the future. As Winston Churchill observed," The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see." Professional development study tours enable teachers to look backward through firsthand experiences, historical inquiry, and collaboration with colleagues. In doing so, they strengthen their ability to help students develop the knowledge, empathy, and critical thinking skills needed to become informed citizens and future leaders.

PD tours are explicitly designed for Australian teachers and syllabus mapped. Whether your interest is enhancing current understanding or opening pathways to new areas of teaching, the content on these tours goes beyond the well beaten tourist track.

Travelling with other history teachers allows the opportunity to collaborate and engage in collegial discussions. It could be sharing ideas on a morning stroll and brainstorming new strategies together over dinner. These relationships often become networks and resources that can be accessed well after the tour has ended.

Participating in a study tour can serve as a valuable trial if you are considering running one for your students, allowing you to report back to your school with firsthand insight into how it could operate.

Teacher study tours can contribute to your required PD hours. As this is a requirement of your role, travel expenses can also be tax deductible (speak to your accountant for advice).

You don’t have to be a current teacher to travel on a PD tour. You could be studying to be a teacher, retired, or a family or friend who just is interested and wants to tag along!

PD study tours are also a lot of fun. We ensure there is some free time for shopping and sightseeing, as well as including amazing cultural experiences and excellent local cuisine.

Travelling on a carefully considered, thematic, in depth program with likeminded individuals is not only inspiring and reinvigorating, but a whole lot of fun!

Libertas Travel offers a range of syllabus-linked History PD study tours. Browse the tours currently available on our website to find a program that is right for you.
