The tour takes students on an exploration of the rich drama traditions of the UK and France –from Shakespearean classics to cutting edge experimental theatre, stagecraft and performance technics. 

Students come away with a greater understanding of the diversity of dramatic artforms and the power of drama and theatre to explore the human condition and communicate social, political, and cultural messages.

Day 1-2

Depart Australia ⤑ Arrive in Manchester

Day 2-3

Manchester

Behind the scenes tour at the Lowry Theatre & Gallery and evening performance.  Drama performance workshop at ALRA focussed on voice and movement techniques.  

Day 4

Stratford-upon-Avon

Visit Shakespeare’s House, behind the scenes tour at the Swan Theatre and attend an evening performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Day 5

Bath

Explore Bath and learn about the Georgian streetscapes and sites synonymous with Jane Austen’s critique of class and manners.  

Day 6-9

London

Explore a truly global city – from a Shakespearean workshop at The Globe to immersive workshop at LAMDA.  Engage with diverse drama genres incl physical and immersive theatre (Punchdrunk) and theatre for social change.  Tour Warner Bros. (Harry Potter) and attend performances at The Globe, West End musical and Improv Theatre

Day 10-12

Paris

Train to Paris.  A guided walk to discover the real Moliere, performance techniques workshop at Disneyland Paris.  Explore new dramaturgies at L’Ecole Jacques Lecoq and tour Palais Garnier. Evening performance at Theatre des Nouveautes

Day 13-14

Depart Paris ⤑ Arrive in Australia
