This tour takes students on an exploration of three US cities - vibrant multi-cultural outlets for the best of creative arts - from iconic art-world institutions to the heartland of movie-making, cutting-edge architecture to the epicentre of innovative design, and from fascinating street life to legendary theatres.

Students come away with insights into the diversity of creative art forms – eclectic, traditional and contemporary - and the contexts which shape and connect them - cultural, social and historical.

Depart Australia ⤑ Arrive in Los Angeles

Day 2-5

Los Angeles

A city synonymous with creative expression – go ‘behind the scenes’ with film-making and special effects at Warner Bros and Universal Studios, take drama improv, art and screenwriting workshops, and tour the Getty and The Broad.

Day 5-9

Chicago

Fly to Chicago. Explore the city’s bold architectural legacy & Wright’s organic-design tradition. Visit Oak Park & tour Hemingway’s house. Get immersed in visual arts –through tours and workshops. Explore the power of the American voice in non-fiction and literature. Evening drama & theatre performances.

Day 10-14

New York

Fly to New York – global culture epicentre – tour creative arts institutions & take workshops exploring the intersection between art, design, photography and technology – incl MoMA, FIT, MAD and The Met. Walk the High Line, Hudson River cruise, and Broadway show.
