This tour takes students on an exploration of the cultural and creative arts traditions of Australia - from Indigenous arts giving form and shape to cultural beliefs, to traditional and contemporary art forms and design innovations.    

Students come away with insights into the influences shaping Australia’s creative art forms, the context and inspiration provided by culture, history and landscape, and the ways in which creative arts impact on community and national identity.

Day 1-5

Melbourne & Ballarat

Fly to Melbourne. Experience a vibrant arts scene – from immersive workshops on Australian art, drama, stagecraft, architecture & literature to a Yarra River cruise. Explore modern/ contemporary Australian art at Heidi and the social impact of the 1850s goldrush at The Art Gallery of Ballarat. Performance at Bangarra.

Day 6-9

Adelaide

Fly to Adelaide.  Go behind the scenes at the Adelaide Festival Centre artistic spaces.  Take workshops at the AGSA exploring life drawing, self-portraiture and landscape painting.  Develop performance skills at the Adelaide Theatre Academy.  Fly to Uluru.

Day 9-11

Uluru

Explore the cultural, artistic and spiritual significance of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Learn about the symbols and tools of dot painting at a workshop with a local Anangu artist. Enjoy a sunset camel ride and dine under the night sky.

Day 12-14

Alice Springs

Coach to Alice Springs. Explore the diverse visual and performing arts scene of Central Australia. Workshops at the Araluen Arts Centre, and guided tour of Alice Springs Desert Park.

Day 14

Depart Alice Springs ⤑ Arrive in Australia
