12 Day - Teacher Professional Learning Tour

Explore Rome’s archaeological sites with experiences beyond the norm – take an underground tour of the Colosseum and access lesser visited sites on Palatine Hill. Go back to 28BC at the Mausoleum of Augustus, enter the ongoing dig site of Nero’s Domus Aurea, and visit the Ara Pacis. Day trip to Tivoli to tour Hadrian’s Villa.
See first-hand evidence of the reign of Mussolini and the rise of fascism at the Foro Italico. View the site of his former office and the streets constructed specifically to host his military displays. Learn about life in occupied Rome at the Museum of Liberation. Visit Villa Torlonia to tour Mussolini’s former underground bunker.
Travel to Anzio, birthplace of Emperor Nero and site of WWII Allied landings. See the remains of Nero’s villa and explore the local archaeological museum. Visit the Anzio Beachhead Museum and Sicily-Rome American Cemetery Memorial in nearby Nettuno.
To Naples - port city at the centre of the ancient Mediterranean – for an in-depth tour of the National Archaeological Museum and exploration of the city’s history with an underground tour including Greek-Roman ruins and WWII air raid shelters.
Continuing to the Sorrentine Peninsula, tour the ancient sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis, the Stabian Villas and Paestum.
WWII history will be evident with visits to Salerno, Eboli and Monte Cassino.

You certainly can! Anyone can travel on our PL tours, however, non-teachers should be aware the content will be targeted to the relevant syllabus and based on a certain level of prior knowledge. Should any participant choose not to attend one of the planned activities, there would be no refund for an unused portion of the tour.
Our PL tours are designed to provide 35-45 hours of PL for teachers in the relevant subject areas. The tours are aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers 2.1.2, 6.2.2 and 6.3.2. NSW teachers may apply to have this program count towards elective PL hours at a Proficient Teacher level.
Register Interest to receive a tour brochure for upcoming tours. This will include the full itinerary, terms and conditions and booking form. Reservations close 3 months prior to tour departure. A final tour proposal will be offered for which a deposit is required to book your spot and the final balance of the tour price is due 60 days prior to departure.
Meet and greet your tour group at the tour’s first destination point at the pre-booked hotel prior to tour commencement. Your Tour Manager and Academic Expert will meet you there and are with you for the tour duration.
